There are three scripts total, any or all of which you can use for inspiration. The scripts were created by AirgiodSLV! Each script has two different versions:

  1. Version A, a fill-in-the-blanks template;
  2. Version B, a prompt template containing suggestions.

These scripts are intended to be a starting point from which you can build, not limits to fence you in. Version A offers more flexibility, while Version B offers more support structure.

All of these can grow in different ways from the original script. You can add, remove, or substitute text, tending your audio garden script into your own unique variation.

For examples, please see klb’s sample projects here.

Script 1, Version A:

The room was [adjective] and [adjective], tucked away where no one else would be likely to [action].

"You have to keep this a secret," [Character] said [adverb].

"Does anyone else know?" [Character] [verb].

"[Answer]. Watch out, that's [adjective]."

"I can't believe it. This is one-of-a-kind." [Character] reached out to touch the [noun], suppressing [action].

[Character] [verb]. "First-of-a-kind, anyway. There will be counterfeits. It’s too [adjective]."

"Well?" [Character] [verb], full of [description]. "Want to try it?"

Script 1, Version B:

The room was [cold / dark / small] and [smoky / sterile / stuffy], tucked away where no one else would be likely to [stumble on it / look for them / interfere].

"You have to keep this a secret," [Character] said [urgently / pleadingly / sternly].

"Does anyone else know?" [Character] [fretted / whispered / demanded].

"[Only the people who put it here / There’s a rumor that the work is finished / Who cares? There’s no other way in]. Watch out, that's [sharp / messy / alarmed]."

"I can't believe it. This is one-of-a-kind." [Character] reached out to touch the [fabric / metal / glass], suppressing a [giggle / shudder / gasp].

[Character] [shrugged / scoffed / hummed]. "First-of-a-kind, anyway. There will be counterfeits. It’s too [valuable / recognizable / useful]."

"Well?" [Character] [suggested / challenged / begged], full of [delight / mischief / trepidation / hope]. "Want to try it?"

Script 2, Version A:

You’re not sure you remember the way, but once you get close, [something] takes over.

You remember marking the spot when [circumstance], but time has erased many of those signs. The [objects] you stacked to point the way are long gone, but the symbol of a [noun] is still etched into the [substance].

You remember counting steps to find this place, once. The scent of [smell], and the distant sound of [noise]. The [weather] around you is [description]. It doesn’t feel like anywhere else you’ve ever been.

Once you reach [location], you take a moment to steady yourself, then [action].

Everything is exactly as it had been when you left here. The [adjective] [noun], and the [description]. You feel [emotion].

You knew it would be strange to return here, like [comparison]. You weren’t prepared for how [description] you are, in this place that has lived on in your memory for so long.

The only thing that’s changed, here and now, is you.

Script 2, Version B:

You’re not sure you remember the way, but once you get close, [muscle memory / the navigation system / your hired guide] takes over.

You remember marking the spot when you were a [child / trainee / local resident], but time has erased many of those signs. The [stones / empty crates / books] you stacked to point the way are long gone, but the symbol of a [crow / triangle / broken heart] is still etched into the [tree bark / metal / graffitied concrete].

You remember counting steps to find this place, once. The scent of [honeysuckle / motor oil / death], and the distant sound of [traffic / howling / music]. The [air / rain / heavy snow] around you is [humid / blinding / stifling]. It doesn’t feel like anywhere else you’ve ever been.

Once you reach the [bunker / wall / grove], you take a moment to steady yourself, then [sit / climb / sing].

Everything is exactly as it had been when you left here. The [eerie / crunchy / glowing] [trash / bones / treasure], and the [desolation / insect hive / guardians]. You feel [small / hungry / triumphant].

You knew it would be strange to return here, like putting on [a coat / a uniform / armor] that no longer fits. You weren’t prepared for how [underwhelmed / dizzy / confused] you are, in this place that has lived on in your memory for so long.

The only thing that’s changed, here and now, is you.

Script 3, Version A:

"Stop," [Character A] [verb].

"Why? Don't you trust me?" [Character B] asked [adverb].

"You're going to fall through the ice."

[Character B] [verb]. "I assume that's a metaphor."

[Character A] [reacted]. [Character A’s] [body part] was [description].

"I'll come back," [Character B] [verb].

"I don't think you will." [Character A] [action]. "Has anyone come back from something like that?"

[Character B] [action]. "Am I just anyone to you, then?"

"You know better," [Character A] [verb].

Script 3, Version B:

"Stop," [Character A] [shouted / hissed / sobbed].

"Why? Don't you trust me?" [Character B] asked [wryly / coldly / gently].

"You're going to fall through the ice."

[Character B] [smiled / snorted / turned around]. "I assume that's a metaphor."

[Character A] [stumbled / crouched to spring / dashed away tears]. [Character A’s] [hand / skin / heart] was [shaking / prickling / pounding].

"I'll come back," [Character B] [promised / threatened / joked].

"I don't think you will." [Character A] [swallowed / squinted / crept forward]. "Has anyone come back from something like that?"

[Character B] [laughed / took another step / struck a pose]. "Am I just anyone to you, then?"

"You know better," [Character A] [snarled / scolded / whispered].
